FAQ

Conventional approaches to vehicle service often rely on DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) and data capture initiated when DTCs are raised in the vehicle. Unfortunately, DTCs only cover a subset of possible failure scenarios, causing many other failures to be missed.  In addition, DTCs are known to have many limitations and inaccuracies, which limit them being a sufficient solution for all diagnostics.  Finally when new, previously unknown, problems arise, in many cases a DTC for this fault may likely not have been created, or the root cause may not be known.   In all of these scenarios, the Fastlane Platform offers a superior approach that includes DTC-related faults and data but then goes deeper to improve diagnostics and get to root cause and corrective actions more quickly.
Absolutely, Fastlane Insight is portable across any preferred cloud provider, whether public or private.  Our existing customer engagements have successfully deployed our technologies on a range of cloud solutions, including public and private clouds.
The OEM has full control of how this solution is deployed and used, including which roles have access to the tool.  Some OEMs may choose to use Fastlane Insight for diagnostic analysis and present only the conclusions and recommended corrective actions to service personnel.  Other OEMs may choose to expose Fastlane Insight more, allowing further inquiry and follow-up as the repairs process continues.  The OEM retains full control of how to use this tool and how much to expose, to whom.
In conventional approaches, failure patterns detected in one vehicle are often repaired in isolation, when in fact they may be an early indication of problems affecting other vehicles.  One of the strengths of the AI analysis provided by Fastlane Insight is the ability to detect patterns of failures from multiple vehicles that could indicate a problem that goes beyond a single vehicle. Furthermore, Fastlane Insight can be an invaluable tool to more rapidly determine the potential scope of which vehicles could be subject to a given failure pattern, which can help to improve the response time and effectiveness and significantly reduce the costs associated with a potential recall scenario.
Given the increased software complexity in vehicles, a common problem that OEMs face are service technicians who are unable to adequately diagnose and repair software-based problems in the vehicle, which can often lead to replacing hardware modules that are, in fact, not defective. Fastlane Insight can be a powerful tool not only to diagnose problems and recommend efficient solutions, but also to provide guidance about what is not a problem.  Fastlane Insight analysis reports provide detailed guidance about the likely source of failures, as well as specific recommendations of wasteful steps to avoid, such as diagnosing or replacing units which are not the likely cause.
