Sonatus Automator Named “Connected Car Innovation of the Year” by AutoTech Breakthrough

Annual Awards Program Recognizes Silicon Valley-based Software-Defined Vehicle Leader As Most Innovative Automotive and Transportation Technology

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 4, 2023 – Sonatus, a leading automotive software company accelerating the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs), today announced that Sonatus Automator has been named “Connected Car Innovation Of The Year” in the fourth annual AutoTech Breakthrough Awards.

The most advanced component of the Sonatus Vehicle Platform to date, Automator gives OEMs and their customers the ability to instantly deploy automated routines to create new and personalized in-vehicle features, or run test and diagnostic sequences, all without new code development and cumbersome OTA updates.

These routines can be applied at any point in the vehicle lifecycle such as for prototyping new features during the design and development phase, running automated end-of-line tests during production, and even allowing vehicle owners to personalize their in-vehicle experience after vehicles are sold.

“Writing new code and deploying traditional OTA software updates for feature creation and personalization is time consuming and costly. We created Automator to make this process more efficient and speed up the pace of innovation by eliminating this step for many valuable use cases, enabling OEMs across the globe to quickly implement new features and personalizations to a vehicle.” said Jeff Chou, CEO & co-founder of Sonatus. “Even more, Automator can efficiently execute routines for activities like testing and diagnostics. We look forward to seeing the creative innovations the industry will develop with these new capabilities.”

Automator’s cloud console and APIs allow OEMs and end users to create and deploy sophisticated workflows that orchestrate vehicle-wide functions. The workflows can be triggered by a wide range of in-vehicle and external signals that result in one or more actions including actuating vehicle functions, updating ECU configurations, running diagnostic commands, sending external API messages and much more.

Automator will be launched in production vehicles in 2024 and builds on Sonatus’ history of successful production deployments demonstrating how OEMs and tier-1s can partner with software innovators like Sonatus to provide critical capabilities, while still retaining their ability to deliver differentiated experiences to their customers.

This year’s program attracted more than 1,600 nominations from over 15 different countries throughout the world.

“Currently, adding new functionality or features to a vehicle requires a lot of time and resources to develop, test, deploy and integrate new software. Sonatus Automator reduces this time and effort by orchestrating core vehicle software functionality to easily create new general or personalized features,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director of AutoTech Breakthrough Awards. “Congratulations to Sonatus for this solution that enables such a powerful set of capabilities and provides the ability to respond rapidly when the need arises. Sonatus Automator is a major step for the industry in decoupling feature development from hardware architecture to achieve maximum efficiency, flexibility, and scalability.”
